Designing JMO

Hey y'all! How's it going? I realllly miss this little space so I'm making it a point to come back at least a ~~few~~ couple times a month hopefully. I'm getting a photo session booked after the new year of the complete renovation so I can share all the fun before and afters of this space. We've been moved in completely now for a few weeks and I am literally loving it more and more every day. I'm waiting to reveal everything after Christmas just so the holiday decor isn't the main focus. However, I'll share ALL things holiday hopefully next week when some finishing touches ship out and arrive.

Today I want to share some of the pieces we've transformed to fit the design style of this new home. Y'all all know I love a good furniture picking hunt and gather and I've scored some pretty awesome finds over the last year or so. Well, my vision has finally come to life thanks to the Hubs and all of the pieces are in their designated spots. I brought along most of the furniture we already owned but I knew the dining room was going to be a completely different design aesthetic. To better justify the decision to flip themes, I sold a lot of our pieces to put towards the new ones. I also cut down on lacquer/paint cost because we did all of the refinishing ourselves.

First on the list was a dining room table and chairs. (I want 8 chairs so if y'all see 2 of these floating around tell me!) I knew I wanted white and this was going to be WAY out of my comfort zone. However, I'm literally swooning over every single piece. I'll take the longer way through the swinging door and go through the dining room now to get anywhere in the house just so I can stare. (haha) Blue and white has never been more prevalent than in this room y'all. I also scored a china cabinet and buffet for the space as well. We sanded each piece, primed and used a lacquer finish on each because I wanted that high gloss look. The china cabinet is actually the same color as the dining room ceiling and butler's pantry cabinetry and I adore it! I still may change out the buffet hardware but for now his dipped feet steal the show!

Chairs before..yes y'all...periwinkle! Early 90's Palm Beach apartment maybe? I got this at a great price and I knew I wanted the Thomasville Allegro look. Also it broke my heart less to paint wood white because it was already done. Whew!

Dining table and chairs after:

China Cabinet - it was advertised as having a fresh coat of red paint. Sigh. However, I knew it was the perfect piece to accent my table and chairs and to tie in the blue of the ceiling into the room. The guy had also wired it to have a light so that was a plus. I simply love this piece and how he turned out!

The buffet I scored from one of my favorite IG vendors and again, because it was already painted, it wasn't as painful to paint over the wood. This was a FANTASTIC price compared to the Ballard Designs one I was looking at. Like I said before, the white was totally out of my comfort zone but I knew that was the look that this space needed! Also height was a huge factor and unless you go custom, it is so hard to find a tall enough piece when you're working with very high ceilings. This checked off all the boxes!

Lastly, I scored a little Thomasville bamboo nightstand for next to nothing for Miss Andi's room and painted it white. This one I just used a lacquer spray paint and it turned out so cute for her space!
