Home Reno Updates

Wednesday, July 25, 2018

Hey y'all! I'm coming in hot and sharing all things demo day related today on the blog. Even though they can only focus on the new 'old' house for two solid days a week, things are really progressing and its seriously exciting!

We've made some changes to the master bath layout which has increased the floor space in there making it way more functional. Basically there was going to be a breezeway or hall way so to speak that would connect our room to the bathroom and master closet. We've now opened up the wall to the master bath so that instead of walking onto the hall, you'll walk directly into the bathroom from the bedroom and then on through to the master closet. We've installed the upstairs tubs and picked out the vanities, toilets, faucets etc. because plumbing is underway this week.

We're so close to starting the custom cabinet process and this by far has been my favorite part. I finalized the layout of the kitchen and below are some generated pics so y'all can see how the finished product will look. The island will be in the center and will be 5' by 8'. I'll still have some of my favorite display cabinets and I am thrilled with the butler's pantry/wet bar area. Don't mind the colors - they aren't depicted in the pictures but for reference I've included my #1 inspiration kitchen pic below the layout photos. Also, the wet bar will not be smurf blue (haha) think more along the lines of our last home's kitchen with the grayish blue cabinets. (I adored that look and want to carry it on to this new home) OH! And we are having the cuuutest custom pineapple transom made for the back porch kitchen door - y'all...swoon!

custom transom - love!

Lastly, all of the porch columns have been replaced and put up and the porch is starting to show her true beauty! The paint will come later but the support was definitely needed. The roofers also start next week and we are so pumped! We leave for the beach on Saturday so weather permitting, we should come back to some slight progress on that front. (Windows and siding are just about finalized as well - see inspiration pic below)  As usual, stay tuned and keep the good reno vibes coming and I'll share more after next week!

WHW: on my radar

Wednesday, July 18, 2018
Hey y'all! Welcome to another What's Hap-Pinning Wednesday post. Feel free to link up with Jenn and myself below to share whats going on with YOU! Today I just want to do a little catch up post with things that have been on my radar lately. I'll come back next week with a home reno update since roof, windows, cabinets, porch etc are all in full swing just about.

TV: Are y'all watching Very Cavallari? I have to admit that I am and on top of that, I'm loving it. You have to be an old school Kristin fan to understand but basically I"m glad she's back on reality tv. Also, I only have 2 seasons left of True Blood (I know, so late to the game there) and I'm still loving all the Bravo shows lately. (Southern Charm, Real Housewives, etc)

Books: I just ordered Slightly South of Simple (The first in the Peachtree Bluff Series) as my beach read and I am so excited to dive into this one when we hit the beach next week. I'm not sure it'll be as dark or as sad of a read like I usually like (I know, I'm odd) but its received some great praise thus far!  Also, the hubs surprised me and pre-ordered Reese Witherspoon's new book Whiskey in a Teacup and I am so pumped to get my hands on that one y'all! (She's doing a book tour near our area and I can't make it so someone PA-LEASE go for me!)

Purchases: Speaking of books, I purchased Stone Soup for Miss Andi when browsing Prime day deals. Do y'all remember that book by chance? I used to love it and it was like a $3 purchase so bam! She'll get to read it this week. Also purchased another tube of that AP 24 Toothpaste - loving it so far and might take a chance on the Amazon fiddle fig - shipping plants? Sure, why not?!

Beauty: I'm really LOVING the Super Line Preventor Xtreme Serum by Prescriptives  I can't believe I'm new to the serum game but this one delivers! I'm also using their night cream and both are fantastic. I'll definitely purchase again. Also loving my Benefit High Beam highlighter and now I'm hooked on the Sugar Lips Lip Treatment in Petal. I bought the sample size but I'll be getting the full as soon as it runs out.

And lastly, I guess I could label this section as social? We did a parent's night out last week and it was so much fun. We grabbed dinner and then headed to our local rooftop bar for some cocktails (while still getting home by 10:30 mind you haha) We've decided to rotate houses and keep this going monthly. I also attended my first Bunco night on Monday and I'm now obsessed - that was so much fun and then we have our monthly ladies night this Thursday and we're going bowling! Busy but fun week ahead for sure. Oh, and miss Andi starts her second round of swim lessons so send us some encouraging vibes for a successful few lessons before leaving for the beach!

WHW: Easy Meals

Wednesday, July 11, 2018
Recent Recipes Update:

Hey y'all and happy Wednesday! Today I'm sharing a quick (and updated) post from last week showcasing what we've been eating lately. I'm by no means a chef but I strive to have at least 3 healthy meals per week for my family. I also like to make different things to introduce them to Miss Andi. She loves my porkchops so we used pork in two of the following recipes.  (I'm aiming for more home cooked meals I promise but man things get busy! And now I just joined the PTSA - SOS) I really need to get K Cav's new book, True Roots, because she always seems to light a fire under me for cooking inspiration. I also snagged Joanna Gaines' book and have YET to open that sucker!

Anyway, don't forget to link up with us below and share whats going on with you! Hope y'all have a fabulous rest of the week!

Baked Apple Pork Chops
(SO yummy and a huge hit with my family but definitely
a recipe made for fall in my opinion - made the house smell amazing!)

Pioneer Woman Lighter Fried Pork Chop
(I'm a sucker for her show and saw this the other day! Very yummy and super easy!)

Also on the menu recently - my Mama surprised me with these taco shell pans and they are a total game changer! (I mean, does anyone really have to guess how much I like me some Mexican food? Taco Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....)  The next night I made a simple chicken, cheese and spinach dish that I found on Pinterest. Recipe linked below and toddler approved.

Friday 5

Friday, July 6, 2018
Hey y'all! Happy Friday! I hope most of y'all are at a beach somewhere. Lord knows I can't wait to be sitting by the ocean in about 20 days. The countdown is officially on. So, how was everyone's holiday? I hope it was fabulous and not as hot as it was here. We had a super fun neighborhood block party cookout! See below for the quick and festive dish I brought.

This weekend Miss Andi and I are going to my future SIL's bridal shower and we're so excited. Its a couple's shower so my BIL will be there as well and I seriously cannot believe that their wedding is SO close. Hubs has to work out of town but I'll at least have my little sidekick. Also, have I told y'all that we'll both be Jessi Otey?! How crazy is that!? Both the Otey brothers married/will marry a Jessi/Jessie. For some reason it just makes me love her more (right Jess? I know she's reading..muah!) No but seriously, my SIL is better than y'alls. She's hysterical, sarcastic, so pretty and loves wine just about (but not quite) as much as I do. She'll obviously be a perfect addition to the family if I do say so myself.

Diving right into the link up and sharing 5 fun things from the week. Have a fabulous weekend!

1. For the 4th of July block party I made this super cute, easy and festive taco dip via Family Fresh Meals

2. For the bridal shower, I scored the cutest 'poppin' champagne' wrapping paper similar to this one. Is anyone else a sucker for cute wrapping paper? Target & T.J. Maxx always have great patterns!

3. This little thing has been (cautiously) loving the pool lately and her swim lessons start in a couple weeks. I'm really hoping they go better than last year so keep your fingers crossed! Also, any advice on getting your toddler more comfortable with the water would be greatly appreciated!

4. Speaking of Miss A, we had a movie night last Thursday and she picked All Dogs Go to Heaven y'all....MELT my heart! That was one of my favs back in the day and I cried like it was the first time I'd seen Charlie get called to Heaven. Next week we're going to an outdoor showing of 101 Dalmations. Its so neat to see her gush over all the Disney movies I loved as a kid! (word has it that Cruella is going to make an appearance!)

5. Did y'all see that Blogger has fixed the comments/email problem we've been having?! I'm so happy Brittany from Life as the Mrs shared this with me because this issue has been super annoying. Head over to Andrea's post on how to resolve this.

Words of Wisdom for the weekend:
