Weekend Recap!

The End.... JUST KIDDING!

Ya'll, this weekend was one for the books. We were able to get so much done since Seth's work schedule cooperated and his Dad was able to come and help as well. The counter tops were delivered and installed, the granite closet island slab was delivered and installed, we painted more trim and benches for kitchen, painted over the yucky paneling in the master closet, finished grout in laundry room ceramic tiles AND wallpapered the kitchen bath with the blue/grey toile. We also ordered our living room furniture and hired someone to lower the gigantic mantel in the living room so that we can mount the TV eventually (so living room may be starting to get in the mix here shortly. I have ADD and jump from room to room while honey brings me back to finishing one project at a time haha)

The weather was beautiful (thank goodness) but I think the roof is delaying completion since it is supposed to rain through Wednesday here (boo!) but hopefully the end of the week will be nice. I took a ton of pictures so this will be a little picture heavy but here it is, the newest edition of weekend recap in the Otey household. Hope you all have a great Monday and rest of the week! Thanks for stopping by and following along!

Yay for counter tops! LOVE them!

Laying the backsplash beside the counters made it easy to envision how it would look and I think it'll look great (goodbye old yellow paste..yuck!)

Master closet island is almost complete, needs ply wood sides and hardware now!

Painting the paneling white for now!

Cutting the last tiles for the laundry room

Letting the grout dry

FINISHED! Time to put washer/dryer in!
Just painting tables and benches...you know...haha

Wine themed toile!! haha Love it!

Almost there!!

Friday 5/Friday Favorites!

Friday, April 25, 2014
Ok so is it such a thing to do a double link-up? I'm torn!! Maybe I can alternate weeks since they are both pretty similar! Well I want to share some of my favorite things I've come across this week and I ADORE all of these lovely ladies and their blogs! This week has literally gone by so quickly that I was surprised it was Friday when I woke up this morning (haha no really..) but here's to the weekend for sure and more progress on the house! I'm linking up with Christina, Darci, April, Natasha AND Amanda today. Happy Friday ya'll and have a fabulous weekend!

THIS recipe featured on Christina's blog for Cabernet Burgers- She had me at Cabernet ya'll...that is all

THESE beauties were delivered and installed yesterday and I CANNOT wait to get home and see them again (today will drag on I just know it!) Stay tuned for Monday's recap feature on them!

Also, if you follow me on Instagram then you saw that the toile wallpaper came in for the kitchen bath as well! LOVE!!

I saw this floral maxi dress from French Connection and fell in love with it! You can get it here on piperlime!

Look how cute this housewarming gift is! I've seen the hammer attached to the bottle of wine one floating around but I have a house-warming for a friend coming up and this would be perfect to put together! (Hopefully she's not reading this hahaha)

Lastly, look at these beauties would ya??! Sweet tooth time and so pretty for Spring/Summer! Visit Tastes of Lizzy T for the complete recipe!

Hosting 101

Tuesday, April 22, 2014
So I don't know about ya'll but I adore books. Cook books, magazines, coffee table books, reading books (haha reading books -like not all books are for reading?) Anyway, I always wanted to be like Belle from Beauty & the Beast and have a GIANT Library in my home someday. I mean, I even saved all of my textbooks and reading materials from college instead of selling them back so I could grow my book collection. Well the newest addition to the list is this cute little gem I found at an adorable place in Durham, NC (Parker & Otis to be exact) called: 'What's a Hostess to Do?' by Susan Spungen. Ya'll, this is the most handy little reference book for all things entertaining! Great illustrations and tutorials! It wasn't expensive and the pretty metallic gold makes it great to set out on display. You can get it here on Amazon for about $13.00.

Linking up with these lovely ladies for Tuesday Tea!
