5 Spring Favorites

Friday, March 29, 2019
Hey y'all and happy Friday! I'm popping on the blog today to link up and share some Spring favorites. Y'all know how much I love all things snow and winter right? Well I must admit that these temps this week have me all excited for Spring. I love when you can open the windows in a home. Ah bring on Spring but take your time Summer!

Linking up today with the usual gang - join in!

1. These J. Crew Factory Tees

2. These slides from Target & Amazon

3. All things Spring in the home - I recently switched out my magnolia wreath for a brighter boxwood wreath and ribbon on the front door. I'm also ALL about bringing in the Spring blooms and putting them in every ginger jar I own. Can someone say daffodils?!

4. Outdoor serving platters and anything melamine. I even brought out the outdoor cushions for our furniture. I figured it was socially acceptable now. (haha) I've REALLY been swooning over the blue bamboo set from Ballard below:

5. My Mama and I made this salad last week and it was so delish! I suggest not adding the bowtie pasta - it added nothing to the salad. The dressing was amazing though!

Reno #3 Update

Wednesday, March 27, 2019
Hey y'all! Welcome to another WHW. I'm finally checking in and sharing some updates on reno number 3! I'm literally over the moon with the progress and cannot wait for y'all to scroll down see some pics so I won't talk (or type) too much. Basically the upstairs is completely finished minus hallway and sunroom light fixtures. The paint and trim is now completely finished and bright white and the floors are waiting to be refinished next. Downstairs, the hubs and FIL duo tackled the trim in the living room, master bedroom, master bath and closet which leaves the dining, kitchen, hallway and stairs. Trim is a time consuming thing y'all! (not to mention a proper labeling system to make sure it all goes back to its rightful place in the home-whew!) Once that is complete, we can get the floors sanded and refinished and ummm move in?! Ok are y'all ready for a big ole' picture dump?

We've installed some ceiling fans and even though fans aren't my fav, they are totally necessary for Southern summers am I right? We finally narrowed down the remaining light fixtures needed downstairs which I'll share in another post and we just need to order them. Next up we have appliances. Y'all....I cannot even explain my love for this appliance package. Although I've never seen them in person (I know, odd) I knew that we had to have them. They are the new GE Cafe appliances and they are so chic. Black stainless with bronzed handles. I think with our black kitchen island and other black accents, they will fit in perfectly!

Moving on to one of the most exciting things - the new siding! Despite extremely rainy weather and multiple pushed back start dates, the siding was dropped off last week and has officially been underway for three days now. The difference literally takes my breath away! The black framed windows pop so much more now as well - its crazy and I love it. Unfortunately with the neat curved porch feature we won't be able to wrap the top part in metal but on the flip-side, the details in the wood will remain featured when painted.

Love seeing the progress when I pull up!

Look the the difference - those skinny boards are the original!

That curved porch gives me all the feels!

The master bath is also coming together. We're getting the shower measured for glass and trying to decide on shower tile layout. Vertical shower wall tile or horizontal? The struggle is real...However, the tile is down on the floors and the vanity is in. I'm in love with the space so far. Its small but mighty fabulous!

Stay tuned for more and thanks for following along! Check out my instagram stories for more highlights and everything in between!

Top 5

Wednesday, March 20, 2019
Hey y'all! Welcome to another WHW. I'm still a tad behind on design reveal but again, stay tuned because the trim upstairs is just about finished, fans installed and only a few more light fixtures to go until the upstairs is finished and ready for fresh floors! Also, the siding materials were postponed AGAIN so I'm hoping end of this week or start of next will be the start of new vinyl.

Today I want to do a post sort of like Friday 5 where I round up 5 things that are going on around these parts lately. Oh and guess what? Happy FIRST day of Spring y'all!

1. Thank y'all so much for helping me identify this gorgeous tree/bush. The overwhelming response was Saucer Magnolia and I can either propagate or purchase one from a garden center. I can't say enough how pretty these are and they bloom multiple times. The greenery serves as the perfect natural wall too if around an open porch, etc.

2. Y'all probably saw my instastories yesterday and PLEASE don't call child services on me. Andi had her last open house before their big recital in May and boy was she nervous. The teacher assured me that she isn't usually like that and bless her heart she did so incredibly great minus the crying. She overcame her emotions and perked up during the last 10 minutes of class. They were all so dang cute!

3. Speaking of Spring, we've been trying to make it arrive sooner! We've spent a lot of time outdoors and I must admit that even though I'm a huge fan of snow and Winter, I'm loving the slightly warmer temps and flowers popping up all over our little town!

4. NO FAST FOOD! I'm on week 2 of my 30 days without fast food. If you remember, I also did this in January and then fell off the wagon with Chick-fil-a. Its surprisingly simple and I'm loving it. We just get into the habit of so much take out and fast food when doing renovations because its easier. I also have to share two new fitness subscriptions I've been absolutely LOVING. Rebecca Louise and my tried and true Pop Sugar Fitness

5. Speaking of fitness, I'm trying a yoga class for the FIRST time EVER tomorrow evening. Any tips? Will it be too calm for me? Do y'all love it or hate it? Of course I'll report back!

Lately

Wednesday, March 13, 2019
Hey y'all! Welcome to another WHW. I love that y'all come and link up with Jenn and me each week so we can all touch base. I must admit that I did not have enough content for a reno update this week but I will definitely be back with one next Wednesday so stay tuned. (Mostly because the siding was supposed to start last Monday but got delayed due to materials not coming in and we're rushing to finish trim so floors can be refinished!) However, I've still managed to stay full steam ahead on design and can't wait to share some new things with y'all next week!

Last week Andi and I took a 7 hour road trip down to Atlanta to visit my bestie from college and her family. Y'all..the trip down was a TOTAL disaster due to a cracked tire. We made it 4 hours into our trip and the tire pressed dropped dramatically. We got off on an exit and filled it with air (with the help of a fabulous stranger but thankfully I've now learned how easy it is as long as there's a gauge). We thought we were good to go but a few miles later the PSI dropped even MORE! We pulled off in a tiny town and made it to the nearest tire shop with about an inch of tire left to spare before it hit the rim. (Thanks Google maps) The tire shop was small and the people were friendly BUT time was not a priority there. We sat there for.....ready? FIVE HOURS! After 4 new tires and way too much $ later, we made it to ATL by 9:30pm. WHEW! Can I just say how flippin' fantastic my child was? She was so amazing and never complained. She loved the snack machine, watching passing trains and turning Paw Patrol on in the little waiting room. In the car she loved singing, sleeping, coloring and playing with barbies. She was a total dream boat and it was more fun traveling with her than grown adults!

Anyway, we made it to Atlanta and had an absolute blast for the next 48 hours. My friend has all boys so it was a nice (and wild) change of pace. Her new home is absolutely stunning and we enjoyed good food, wine, babysitter time and a trip to the Aquarium with the kiddos. Oh.. and then she surprised me by introducing me to her interior designer and taking me to the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center so I could browse all things furniture, designer, rugs and more to my hearts content. The showrooms were insanely beautiful and I literally could have spent a week in that building. SWOON! I really wanted to stay an extra day but needed to get back to VA to look into another potential fixer upper showing that you probably saw if you peeked into my insta stories on Sunday (hint: total hoarder status and mega project alert)

I hope y'all have a fabulous rest of the week and thanks for linking up today!

Design Inspo

Wednesday, March 6, 2019
Hey y'all! Happy WHW! We just got off Spring Break and the mini break has been awesome. With my birthday last weekend and all the nights out happening, the break was welcomed! Speaking of birthdays, it was fantastic and we celebrated from Thursday to Sunday. Last night my sister took me out to Mexican and showered me with sweet gifts so the celebration continued again! (Thanks Sis!) 32 is looking like it will be a great year.

Cheers to 32!
Today I want to share some design inspiration that has been popping up all around me. I've discovered some fantastic new IG accounts and I've been swooning over so many new design books and posts on a daily basis.
