Weekend Recap

Monday, April 7, 2014
Just like that... it's Monday. It's a dark and rainy Monday too- ew. Hopefully going away by tomorrow with better temps like this weekend so we can continue kicking but on this home reno! This weekend, hubby proved to me that he literally could quit his job and have a back-up in construction, demolition, renovation, carpentry....you name it. He amazed me this weekend on just simply knowing how to do pretty much everything! (Sorry if it sounds like bragging but it sort of is- so happy he's a mans man hahaha) Over the weekend we got the ceilings scraped in the living room, master and master closet so they are ready for paint. We also started sheet rock in the bedroom and I must say I wasn't sad to see the roses on the cracked plaster go...(although I'm sure some lady was so over the moon when her husband agreed to that wallpaper back in the day) We also started and basically finished (minus painting them) our custom benches with built-in storage for the kitchen. Also, while exploring some outbuildings, Kyna (my mother-in-law) and I stumbled across a fabulous find! We found the perfect size table for the kitchen bench area in one of the outbuildings behind the house and we love it! He needs some wood glue and stain but after sanding him he has great potential! Movin' right along folks and lovin' every second! As usual, thanks for stopping by and thanks for all of your sweet comments and encouraging words!

The table we found!

Measuring the panels to cut out for the metal grates!
These benches are actually going over baseboard heaters!

Adding decorative molding to hold the grates in place

We secured the top only one side so we could have added storage on
the sides where the baseboards didn't run

Hubby Approved
Emma Approved

Sorry roses.... (look at that mean mug!) hahaha

The table again- and if it doesn't end up working? Well we didn't spend any money on him!

Master closet ceilings scraped!

Other side of master closet

scraping living room

This is what is looks like after popcorn texture is gone- much better...

  9. What a great idea to create the bench seating to hide the baseboard heaters!! I think the table is going to turn out awesome. Thinking of painting it a fun color or are you going to try and restore the wood? As always, Emma's looking adorable!
