Happy Friday Ya'll! As usual I'm linking up with the lovely Christina, Darci, April & Natasha today to bring you a dose of Friday favorites...awards style!
I don't know if ya'll are like me when it comes to awards shows but I love to try and watch every nominated film before it comes out so I at least know what they are referencing (while I oooh and ahhh over the fashion- which is partly the real reason I watch) Here are 5 things I'm excited about regarding the upcoming Oscars:
1.) Best Picture: Though it is SUPER risk-ay and pushes almost every boundary known to film ratings... (I felt super uncomfortable in the theater..whew) the acting is incredible and Scorsese did a fabulous job with this one. (ps if you know me, you know I adore some Dicaprio..this post has a lot of Dicaprio just so you are forewarned)
2.) Best Actor in a Leading Role- well duh...Leonardo Dicaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street (he nailed it -but again VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED haha)
3.) Best Actress in a Leading Role- ok who doesn't love Meryl Streep? And a dry-sarcastic and hilarious attitude Streep at that? (August Osage County) However, Amy Adams is pretty fierce in American Hustle as well! Predictions??
4.) Best Actor in a Supporting Role- Ya'll I would LOVE to see Jonah Hill get this one. I even said while watching WOW (Wall of Wall Street) that even above Leo, he needed to get some kind of nomination for this role. Well done Jonah! (other great nominations in this category as well so this is a tough one!)
5.) THE GREAT GATSBY IS UP FOR BEST COSTUME DESIGN!! I REPEAT....you get it but yes, yes and double yes! I love the 20's/30's time period and the extravagance of that movie was absolutely fabulous so I am glad Catherine Martin is nominated for this! (if you haven't seen this movie- we are no longer friends haha) It is very close to the novel (which is hard to adapt to film to begin with) and the beauty of this film made me watch it about 4 times in one week. Clearly loved it.
Here is a link with the full list of nominations (Oscars Nominations 2014) and ya'll we still have time to watch all of the films because the Oscars are not until March 2nd on ABC at 7pm. So get going and tell me your favorites!
Happy Weekend!!
I'm a huge Leo fan as well but I HAVEN'T SEE WOW YET! I know, it's a shame!! I need to see it though, I've heard so many good things about it! I loved him in Great Gatsby and pretty much just the entire movie haha! Stopping by from the link-up :)

ReplyDeleteJared has a good chance at the supporting nom for sure!!

In Charlotte, they have programs where you pay about $30 and get to see all the nominated films (for the Oscars) over a two day period. I haven't seen Wolf on Wall Street yet, but my brother told me it was inadvertently hilarious. I 'm guessing he was referring to all the uncomfortable stuff in the movie lol.
